Veterans' Gateway launch date 20th June 2017

In November 2016, the Ministry of Defence announced £2 million of funding for a one-stop service to support British Armed Forces veterans in need. The new service, called Veterans’ Gateway, will launch 20 Jun 17.
Veterans’ Gateway has been created to make it easier to navigate the large number of organisations that already exist to support those who have served in the forces.
The service will be the first point of contact for veterans and their families to access information, advice and support on a range of issues including healthcare, housing, and employment. It will allow services from organisations to be accessed from one place.
Veteran’s Gateway will have a website as well as online chat, phone and text message services available to any veteran, from anywhere in the world, 24 hours a day. Veterans can access face-to-face support through the Veterans’ Gateway network of partners across the UK and overseas.

Why is it needed?

More than 2,000 charitable groups currently offer help to veterans. By having a first point of contact, the Veterans’ Gateway team will be able to quickly work out which of the partners is best placed to help with the information, advice and support required.

CarillionAmey set to launch a new website

Carillionamey will soon be launching a new website to provide a more streamlined and user-friendly experience. Their current website is cluttered and would like to give it a cleaner look. They also want to make it easier for customers to find the information they need.
However, this website re-launch means that any links or pages you may have bookmarked will no longer work. Once the website has gone live, you'll have to save any new links or bookmark the new pages that you need. A lot of the information we have on the current website has also been updated and some new sections have been added so you'll need to familiarise yourself with these changes as well.
They're committed to ensuring that their performance is continuously improving and want to make sure their website is tailored to customer's needs. They're aiming for the website to go live by the end of May but will have a confirmed go live date next week so keep an eye out for more details.

Stoll- building of thirty four new homes for vunerable and disabled Veterans has started in Aldershot

Armed Forces Veterans have laid the first bricks at Stoll's new development in Aldershot. Stoll, the leading provider of Veterans' housing and support, is building 34 new homes for vulnerable and disabled Veterans to rent. The new homes are being built on the site of a former care home on the edge of a nature reserve in suburban Aldershot to address the housing shortage faced by the nation's ex-Service men and women. The new homes will be available to rent from March 2018.

SSAFA - could you mentor a veteran?

We are searching for volunteers passionate about helping wounded, injured or sick service men and women get back on their feet. Offering non-judgmental advice and support, our mentors aim to ensure these vulnerable men and women who have given so much, are given exactly what they need to succeed post-service.

We urgently need new mentors in specific locations;  Northern Ireland, Birmingham, Telford, Colchester, Ipswich, Aldershot, Andover, Yorkshire, Leeds, Sheffield, Middlesborough, Catterick, Scarborough, Powys and South Wales.
